Some important things you may need to
know:
Reading Lists
Read every night 10-15 minutes. Please sign your initials
next to your child's name on the reading list with a comment
about how they did. Let me know if you think they are going
to read the same book again the next night, and please date
the entry for the book each night.
Writer's Workshop
Some of the children are having a hard time thinking of
something to write about. It is a great idea to talk about ideas
at breakfast and then they will
have a topic when they come in first thing in the
morning.
Volunteers
Please remember to sign in at the office when
volunteering in our classroom. Even if you have to drop off
a lunch or backpack, please stop by the office first.
We have some openings for writer's workshop and reading
buddy helpers. If you are interested, let me know and I will
let you know the times and days that are available.
Lunch/Milk Tickets
When your child has used up their lunch/milk ticket, I
will send it home to remind you that they will need to
purchase a new one for their next day of school.
Snack/Birthday Treats
Please remember to send in a daily healthy snack for your
son or daughter. We usually eat snack around 10:30. If you
are going to bring in a birthday treat, you may drop it off
in the classroom before school or drop it off in the office
before 10:30.
Discipline
I use color cards for the children to monitor their
behavior by. They all start on green every day, then yellow
is one warning, and red is loss of recess and a note home.
School wide medals will be awarded for good character traits,
and yellow slips will be given in extreme discipline
problems.
Guest Readers
If you signed up to be a guest reader in class, I will
send home a volunteer schedule for the month you signed up
for at Open House. Please come with books brought from home
or the library to share with the class. They could be your
child's favorites or you could pick some that go with a
holiday or theme we're studying in class.
